But due to Covid-19 related issues exam dates have been rescheduled.The Winter 2020 examination which was supposed to conduct in the first week of December may be conducted by March-April 2021. A student can appear examination in a center anywhere in India or abroad. But the maximum number of subjects that a candidate can appear at single chance is 4. If he fails in one subject, he can appear the same subject again till he completely passes that subject.
Those who wish to appear for examination must apply in the prescribed format, before the last date. When a student clears all subjects in both sections A and B he is said to have passed A.M.I.E examination and becomes a qualified graduate engineer.
All members who have already enrolled for Section A or B (Technicain/Senior Technician/Associate etc) of Institution having valid membership number (ST/T/AM etc) are eligible for appearing the AMIE examination.
However, if you got your membership number and waiting for ID card, you are also eligible for applying. You will need to produce the ID card at the exam hall only.
Examination fee is Rs 3000/- for appearing in any centers in India, and 225 USD, outside India. The examination fee is same irrespective of the number of subjects you appear at a time/chance.
If you prefer to apply for exam in offline mode (post/courier), you can pay exam fee in the form of DD only drawn in favour of "The Institution of Engineers (India)", payable at "Kolkata". Cheque/Money Order etc will not be accepted.
If you apply online, the exam fee can be paid through the website itself (debitcard/Netbanking).

The AMIE exam shall be conducted at 70 Examination Centers in India and abroad. You can apply for the exam as per the schedule mentioned below.

There are many examination centers all over India and abroad. The preferred exam center need be selected only at the time of applying for exam. If wishes, he may change exam center in each semester.
Once selected, request for a change of examination center is not normally entertained. But for unavoidable reasons you can apply for a change in exam center.

Hall tickets will not be sent to any one's address. Students can download hall ticket from website about two week prior to commencement of examination and get the print out of the same. They have to furnish the admit card as well as Membership card at the exam hall entrance.
The list of candidates whose application forms were rejected by IEI shall be published in the website before the commencement of examination.
Fee on rejected examination forms shall be refunded after deducting processing fee of Rs 150/-.
In case a candidate claims that inspite of submitting an examination form, he has neither been provided with Admission Card nor any information about rejection of his application, he can submit a fresh examination form along with a demand draft of Rs. 1500/- only (150 USD abroad), with the photocopies of his original examination form, details of the demand draft and a copy of the postal receipt to the Officer-in-Charge for provisional appearance in the examination. In case the candidate's claim is found not to be in order, the fee deposited by him shall be forfeited and his appearance shall be treated as irregular.
Fee will not be refunded or adjusted for submission of duplicate examination form.
Do not staple the draft along with the letter/examination form. Use gem clips only.
Programmable calculator is not permitted to use in the examination hall. Non-programmable calculator may only be allowed.
Request for change of subjects shall not be entertained after submission of examination form.

A Technician member, after passing diploma qualification, changes his membership to Senior Technician, s/he shall be considered, on request, as exempted from Section 'A' Examination, provided s/he has secured exemption (obtained Grade 'C' or above with minimum GPA being 6) in four common subjects of same nomenclature in both Section 'A' (Non-diploma) and Section 'A' (Diploma) of revised syllabi. No pass grade card of Section 'A' shall be issued. S/he shall be eligible to register for Section 'B', with requisite fee, with an undertaking that s/he shall not claim pass grade card for Section 'A'. The CGPA shall be calculated only on the basis of Section 'B' Examination, project work and laboratory experiments.
Candidates who studied Diploma in Hindi medium can write his amie examination in Hindi or English. The following conditions apply
